Today, modern science and technology give us an unparalleled look at the magnificence of the cosmos. We can peer deeper into the wondrous workings of nature than any generation before us. Yet, what we find is not just functional design, but an overwhelming, elegant, and completely unnecessary splendor.

Join us at First Redeemer Church for a special multi-media event featuring author and theologian Dr. Ken Boa. In this captivating session, Dr. Boa will explore the concept of "gratuitous beauty"—the breathtaking artistry in nature that goes far beyond what humans need just to survive. From spectacular starry night skies and mountain meadows to the deep, scientific wonder of the microscopic world, nature's excess design points directly to a loving Creator.

Dr. Boa will show how the universe acts as a cosmic canvas, revealing profound insights into God's character. You will discover how humans, as divine image-bearers, are uniquely wired to appreciate and create beauty. Ultimately, this talk will teach you how to use the universal human love for the transcendent as a powerful conversational bridge. Leave with a renewed sense of wonder, a deeper heart for worship, and practical tools to use both divinely-created and human-created beauty to defend and advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Key Highlights of the Talk

  • The Cosmic Canvas: Breathtaking glimpses of how the heavens and the natural world actively tell the glory of God today.
  • Scientific & Spiritual Wonder: Insights into the elegant, deep-level beauty that scientists observe when delving into the laws of nature.
  • The Art of the Soul: Understanding why humans innately long for beauty and how art stirs our hearts to contemplate the divine.
  • Aesthetic Apologetics: Practical ways to employ the breathtaking majesty of creation as a gentle, undeniable defense of the Christian faith.
